So, you’ve been offered a position. Congrats! All your hard work has paid off, and now you’re ready to set sail on your next employment journey. (Well, almost.)

From the moment you interview with WSI recruiters, they are committed to finding the best employment fit for you. When you’re offered a position, we think it’s going to be a perfect match, but it’s ultimately your call. Your WSI recruiter wants this position to work out for you, so to be 100% sure this opportunity meets all of your requirements, here are a few things to consider:

Hours/Schedule

Will the hours and schedule realistically fit with your life? There’s nothing more frustrating  than accepting a position, only to realize you’re unable to commit to the specific schedule. Your recruiter will ask about this during your interview, but sometimes it’s easy to get excited about a position and forget about prior obligations or adopt a “yes-for-now, figure-out-details-later” mentality. If the hours are do-able but different than what you’re used to, try making a list of how these new hours will impact your life and plan accordingly ahead of time.

Location

Location, location, location. Is it a convenient commute? Make sure you’ll be able to make it to work on time every day, no matter your mode of transportation. (Hoverboarding to work? We won’t judge – just take into account miles per hour!) Your WSI recruiter will also be able to give you details of what positions are located on the bus line and which ones are not.

Culture/Atmosphere

When your recruiter goes over available opportunities with you, they’ll also give you some insight into what the atmosphere is like. Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Do you prefer a fast-paced environment? Great! Prefer something more laid back? That’s fine too!  Different positions may have different environments, even within the same company, and we want to make sure you can thrive wherever you end up. Be open and honest with your recruiter so they can put their match-making abilities to good use.

Growth Opportunities

You’ll also want to consider advancement opportunities. It’s important to communicate to your recruiter if you’re looking for something short-term or long-term. If you’re looking for growth opportunities, that’s important to us too. We’d hate to place you somewhere that’s primarily looking for summer help (even though we wouldn’t mind seeing your face again when the season is over).

In the end, your WSI recruiter wants what’s best for you. When you consider these factors before accepting a position, you’ll confidently hit the ground running in your new role. We’re rooting for you!
